Terms and Conditions of Use (T&C)
1. Purpose & Scope
These Terms and Conditions of Use (hereinafter "T&C") govern the access and use of the CarTax widget and its associated web pages (hereinafter "the Publisher").
By accessing and/or using the widget, the user (hereinafter "the User") acknowledges having read these T&C and accepts them without reservation.
2. Nature of Provided Information
CarTax provides tax simulation results (TMC/BIV registration tax, annual road tax, company car benefit in kind ATN/VAA, corporate tax impact, etc.) for purely indicative and informational purposes, based on statutory scales, formulas, and user-entered technical inputs. The calculations do not constitute tax, legal, or accounting advice, nor do they guarantee absolute accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
The User remains solely responsible for verifying official figures with the competent tax administrations and, where appropriate, seeking professional counsel.
3. Access, Account and Acceptance
Access to the simulator is free of charge, except for sections that may be restricted by the Publisher. Use of the widget implies full and unconditional acceptance of these T&C. In case of disagreement, the User must immediately cease using the service.
In the event of third-party embed distribution, the User remains subject to these T&C in addition to the host website's specific terms.
4. Intellectual Property
All components of the widget and its web pages (source code, scripts, calculation algorithms, tax rate tables, graphical user interface, design, trademarks, logos, texts, and multimedia assets) are protected by copyright and applicable intellectual property laws. They remain the exclusive property of the Publisher or its licensors.
It is strictly prohibited, without prior written authorization from the Publisher, to:
- copy, reproduce, transmit, publish, adapt, or redistribute all or part of the code, tables, or interface;
- perform any form of reverse engineering, decompilation, or extraction of algorithms or trade secrets;
- embed the widget into a third-party commercial platform, monetize, resell, or sublicense it outside of the agreed terms with the Publisher.
5. Terms of Use & Integration
The widget is intended for regular use by end users and authorized integrators. Any abusive use (such as mass automated requests, scraping, circumvention of rate limits, or alteration of calculation outputs) is strictly prohibited.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The Publisher does not warrant the absence of errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or downtime, nor fitness for a particular purpose.
- The Publisher shall not be held liable for any direct or indirect, material or immaterial damages (including loss of opportunity, loss of revenue, or financial prejudice) resulting from access to, use of, or inability to use the widget and/or the figures provided.
- The User assumes full responsibility for all independent verifications and compliance with applicable statutory regulations.
No compensation or indemnity shall be due under any circumstances for the use of the widget.
7. Data, Cookies & Privacy
CarTax does not require personal identifying data. Technical parameters entered are used strictly for calculation and may be stored locally (e.g. localStorage) to preserve simulation scenarios. For server-side processing, only the technical parameters necessary for computation are transmitted.
The integrating host site may employ third-party cookies and tools (such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Hotjar) subject to the User's consent via a compliant CMP. For further details, please review our Privacy Policy.
8. Availability & Evolution
The Publisher reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service, widget, or T&C at any time without prior notice. Continued use following any modifications constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.
9. Third-Party Links & Services
The website and/or widget may contain hyperlinks to third-party websites or services. The Publisher assumes no responsibility for their content, policies, or availability. Accessing external services is at the User's own risk.
10. Applicable Law & Jurisdiction
These T&C are governed by Belgian law. Any dispute concerning their interpretation, execution, or validity shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the judicial district of the Publisher's registered office.
